HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C., March 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CalAtlantic Homes, one of the nation's largest homebuilders, in partnership with Operation: Coming Home (OCH), a 501-c3 nonprofit organization, today held a Ground Breaking ceremony to commence construction of a beautiful new home for wounded veteran, Staff Sergeant (SSGT) Brandan Lee Joseph Taylor. SSGT Taylor has served in the USMC for 10 years, eight of which he spent in the Marine Special Operations Command as a Marine Raider. He has been on four official deployments during his term. During a raid in the winter of 2014, SSGT Taylor sustained severe back, spine and knee injuries that caused him to be sent home and limited his ability to walk.
"I am truly honored that these organizations are coming together to create a home that provides me with more independence in my everyday life," said SSGT Taylor. "My family and I are looking forward to living in this beautiful new home and experiencing all of the activities and amenities that the community offers. I want to sincerely thank CalAtlantic Homes, Operation: Coming Home and the entire community for the outpouring of support."
The home design features spacious family gathering areas along with 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, a game room and a screened porch. CalAtlantic Homes will include unique features such as wider doorways for wheelchair access and a wheelchair accessible shower and vanity to help meet the needs of SSGT Taylor and his family. The brand new home will be situated in Morgan Park, a new CalAtlantic Homes community in the charming town of Holly Springs, NC. Morgan Park offers residents access to a community pool, a 24-hour fitness center and a children's play area. The location is walking distance to the town's greenway trail system and just a half mile from great schools.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to commit our time and resources to partner with Operation: Coming Home to create an exceptional home for such an extremely deserving American hero," said Troy George, Raleigh Division President for CalAtlantic Homes. "It is our hope that this home provides a backdrop for the Taylor family to make cherished memories for years to come."
"A tremendous group of people have all come together to make this home for SSGT Taylor and his family a reality," said Tim Minton, Board Director for Operation: Coming Home. "Operation: Coming Home is delighted to be working with such a nationally recognized homebuilder as CalAtlantic Homes and we look forward to delivering this beautiful new home to this deserving hero and his family."
